The delivery of safe, competent, compassionate and ethical medical laboratory service care is the responsibility of every Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) in all clinical, administrative, research and educational settings. The MLS is accountable to his or her client, employer, and profession to practice within the laws, regulations, by-laws, standards and policies set down by the government and the professional regulatory agency – the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).

The aim of this course is to introduce the main concepts and importance of the regulatory framework (laws, regulations, by-laws, standards and policies) for the practice of medical laboratory science in Nigeria. These also include laws protecting practitioners as well as obligations under the framework.
